Jennie May Childs, 89, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Columbia City, IN. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN, and graduated from Central High School in 1947. She spent most of her life in Fort Wayne and recently moving to Columbia City. She worked at Foamex for 15 years and was as a Receptionist with Chamber of Commerce for 10 years, retiring in 2007. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran-Columbia City, and enjoyed Zion's sewing group and being part of the Red Hat Society of Columbia City. Surviving are her son, Jeffrey (Virginia) Childs of Columbia City, IN; grandchildren, Eric (Shasta) Childs of Columbia City, IN; Matthew (Jessica) Childs of Fort Wayne, IN; Phillip Childs of Indianapolis, IN 4 great-granddaughter,1 great grandson and a sister, Veroncia Wells of Fort Wayne, IN. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Don Childs, and sister, June King. Service is 10:30 am, Friday March 23, 2018 at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with calling one hour prior. Calling also Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 4- 7 pm at the funeral home.
