Janet L. Mertens, 88, passed away on December 19, 2017. She was born on March 3, 1929 in Indiana. Janet worked as a controller in the construction industry at Irmscher suppliers until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Janet enjoyed knitting, square dancing, cooking, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter; Denise (Michael) Reasoner; grandchildren, Josh (Christy) Reasoner, Erin Reasoner, and Zach Reasoner; 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings; Larry (Sally) Schlatter, Marianne (Jim) Ash. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald H. Mertens; siblings, Joe Schlatter, Martha Brown, and Ilah Notestine. Funeral service will be on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Visitation will be 2 hours prior. Burial will take place in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Concordia Lutheran Church.
