James D. Waffle, 89, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in Fort Wayne. Born in Toledo, OH, Jim earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo. Jim worked as a building contractor for many years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Brookside Church, Three Rivers Visiting Dogs, Building Contractors Association, and Pi Kappa Alpha. He served honorably in the United States Army. He was an avid Komets Hockey fan, enjoyed golfing at Cherry Hill Golf Course, and loved cooking ribs over an open pit claiming the name "The Rib Man". Jim had a great sense of humor and was a jokester. Surviving are his wife of 65 years Marilyn Waffle of New Haven, IN; son, Joseph M. (Kristine) Waffle of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kathryn M. (William J.) Livingston of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Rachel Waffle, Ryder Waffle, Hailey (Josh Lauer) Livingston, and William Livingston; step-great-grandchildren, Ayden, Kristian and Jaxon Lauer; and two nieces, Susi Lehtomaa and Salli Ackerman. Jim was preceded in death by sister, Ruth Karas; father, Harry Waffle; and mother, Audrey Waffle. Service is 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Brookside Church, 6102 Evard Rd with one hour of calling prior to the service. Calling at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Monday, June 18, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne at a later date.
