James Ackmann, 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Greystone Health and Rehabilitation. Mr. Ackmann was born on April 4, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to William and Eleanor (Luplow) Ackmann. He graduated from Concordia High School in Wisconsin and continued his education at Concordia Jr. College, Wisconsin and Concordia College River Forest, Illinois. He obtained his master's degree from Marquette University in Wisconsin. He taught swimming and boating for 5 summers at Camp Playmore. On August 6, 1954, he married Elizabeth Mueller in Euclid, Ohio. Retiring in 1993, James taught and coached at Concordia Lutheran Elementary School in Fort Wayne for 40 years. He worked for Interlogic Outsource INC for 17 years. James was a member at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne and served as an Elder from 1993-2010. Surviving are his children; Susan (Tom) Klawien, Lauren (Terry) Brennan, John (Karen) Ackmann, Thomas (Sue) Ackmann, Christine (Kevin) Janowicz, grandchildren; Megan, Joseph (Emily), Amanda (Nick), and Michael Brennan, Paul (Kelsey), and Leanne Klawien, Elizabeth (Jesse), Daniel (Rachel), and Matthew Ackmann, Kyle, Hannah, and Jackson Janowicz, great-grandchildren; Ellie, Sophie, and Avery Smith, Timothy and Lillian Ackmann, and Eli Brennan, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. James was preceded in death by his wife, Liz Ackmann, parents, and siblings; Conrad and Lois Ackmann. Service is 1:00 pm, August 11, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne. Calling at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Avenue Saturday, August 11, 2018, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Burial will take place in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
