James A. "Jim" Shuler, 69, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at his home in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jim was the son of the late Arthur and Betty Shuler. Jim attended North Side High School and was active in their sports programs. He served our country in the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War. Jim worked with Dana for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of American Legion #499. Jim enjoyed golfing, bowling, NASCAR, IU Basketball, working the pits at races, and tending to his property, especially his lawn. Jim was a jack of all trades, his ability to build cars, and make parts is a quality that made him unique. He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Judi Shuler of Fort Wayne; children, Maria Williams of Arlington, TX, Mona Lisa (Allen) Reed, Jon (Leslie) Hembree both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Shade, Kashawn, Kaeron, Sedrick, Kiera, Kayla, Kara, Kamiya, Jenna, and Leah; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Cheryl) Shuler of Fort Wayne; and sister, Sandra (Gary) Grabner of Huntertown. Service is 11:00 am, Friday, May 5, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road with calling one hour prior.
