Jacqueline "Jackie" Rhea Mossburg, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in Fort Wayne. Born in Neon, KY, she was a 1953 graduate of Fleming Neon High School and in 1959 she graduated from University of Kentucky with her bachelor's degree. She then earned her master's degree from the University of Saint Francis and in 1965 earned her doctorates degree in 1981 from Ball State University. She taught at Maplewood Elementary, Southern Heights Elementary, and was the director of reading for Fort Wayne Community Schools for 37 years. She and Jack lived in Moraco, North Carolina, Indiana, and in Florida for 18 years before returning to Fort Wayne. Jackie was an avid runner and enjoyed fitness activities. She taught water aerobics, loved Zumba Gold, and was an avid Bicyclist. She loved to travel and has visited all 50 states, Canada, and over 50 countries. At Jackie's request there will only be a family memorial. Please reflect on the happy times that you spent with Jackie. She is very grateful to all of her former students. Jackie and Jack will be joined together in a companion urn and placed in Swan Township Cemetery in LaOtto. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her son, Jack Monroe (Denise) Mossburg of LaOtto, IN; two grandsons, Jack William (Monica) Mossburg and Jason Monroe Mossburg both of IL; and great-granddaughter, Lillian Victoria Mossburg. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jack W. Mossburg; father, James Monroe Quillen; and mother, MaryBelle Quillen. Memorials may be made to the Allen County Public Library.
