Irene A. Ferrier, 85, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Born in New Haven, Indiana, Irene was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Schrader. During her working career she worked alongside the chefs at several restaurants until her retirement in 1993. The term "Prayer Warrior" describes Irene perfectly. Her unwavering faith in God, graceful personality which always carried a smile left a mark on everyone she met. She volunteered at St. Anne Home, enjoyed taking pilgrimages, and without a doubt loved spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and Our Lady's Blue Army. Surviving are her children; Michael (Vicki) Ferrier, Connie Robinson, Julie Gropengieser all of Fort Wayne, Sharon Pritchard, Stanley Ferrier both of Woodburn; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Don (Kate) Schrader of Fort Wayne, Paul (Mary Jo) Schrader of Auburn, Jeanette Durbin of PA, Mary (DeWayne) Merckx of Mishawaka, Margaret Moore of New Haven; sister-in-laws, Marlene Schrader, and Wanda Schrader. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Ferrier; brothers, Richard Schrader, and John Schrader. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am, Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. Jude Catholic Church with calling one hour prior, Fr. Robert D'Souza officiating. Calling at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road Sunday, February 26, 2017, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm with a rosary service at 5:30 pm.
