Helene (Noleff) Avery, 93, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017. Born in Johnsonburg, PA, Helene was the daughter of the late Nume and Stonia Noleff. She graduated from Central High School. Helene worked for GE as a quality control inspector for 42.5 years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church along with their women's guild, GE 25th Century Club, Elex Club, and their Pen L Club, along with being a member of the American Legion Post 296 Women's Auxillary. Helene enjoyed staying active and was a very "Glitzy Lady." Surviving are her niece, Gloria Shamanoff of Fort Wayne, along with many nieces and nephews. Helene was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene "Gene" Avery, and sister, Christine Shamanoff. Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, July 15, 2017 at St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, 3535 Crescent Ave with calling one hour prior, Fr. Andrew Jarmus officiating. Calling at St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, Friday, July 14, 2017, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm with Entry Prayer at 2:30 pm and a Trisagion Service at 6:30 pm. Entombment in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church.
