Frederick R. Dillon, 72, passed away on September 20, 2018 in his home in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Gary, IN on September 15, 1946 to the late James and Effie Dillon. Frederick graduated from Gary Roosevelt High School. Before being drafted in to the US Army he was attending Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama. After serving he then returned to Gary Indiana and worked at U.S. Steele in Gary, Indiana for about 15 years. He also worked at the Department of Corrections for 7 years before relocating to Fort Wayne. Before his retirement while residing in Fort Wayne, IN, he was a long time employee of Coldwell General. He also worked at Eaton in Van Wert, OH, Dana Corporation, Patton Electric, and North American Van Lines in Fort Wayne, IN. Fred was a member of the American Legion. He loved sports of all kinds and loved to travel. In Fred's spare time if he wasn't watching a game, he enjoyed going to casinos and was a member of several of them in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Missouri. Last but not least he was a wonderful father, sibling, companion and friend with an infectious smile that will not be forgotten. Surviving are his loving companion of over 30 years, Marvine Logan; children, Kenny Dillon, Deon Dillon, Gaynelle Dillon, and Mark Johnson; 10 grandchildren; and siblings, Willeana (Donald) Jenkins, Letticia (Alfred) Page, Linda (Percy) Motan, and David (Melanie) Dillon; and longtime friends, Robert "Bull" Bullard. He also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tasha Johnson; siblings, James Dillon II, Louis Dillon, and Robert Dillon, his parents, and his grandparents. Funeral service will take place at 5 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 5pm at D.O. McComb Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2-5pm also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois, on Monday, October 8, 2018.
Honorary pall bearers are Kenny Dillon, Deon Dillon, Mark Dillon, Marcus Logan, Courtney Logan, Hansel Williams, Roy Hope, Robert Bullard, Anthony Richardson, and Kenneth Ramsey.
