Francis James Kelly "Kelly the Clown", 90, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Visiting Nurse in Fort Wayne. Born on March 26, 1926 in Yonkers, NY, Frank was the son of the late Harry and Catherine Kelly. He was a WWII Army veteran. Frank was a wonderful man, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family. Frank worked with Lincoln National Life for 38 years and was a professional clown for 50 years prior to retiring. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Clowns of America International membership #16 out of 500 membership,1966 National Clown Week was declared by President Nixon, voted Clown of the Week on 8/1-8/7/71. Clowning was his life. Throughout his 50 years of clowning he made many children and adults smile. Surviving are his children, Tim (Cheryl) Kelly of Yoder, Chuck (Diana) Kelly of Fort Wayne, Dan (Judy) Kelly of Lansing, MI, Anne Kelly of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Bernadette in 2011. Service is 10:30 am, Friday, March 10, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 W. Jefferson Blvd with calling one hour prior, Rev. Thomas Eggold officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue Thursday, March 9, 2017, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Visiting Nurse Hospice. To sign the online guest book, go to
