Elsie Lavine Dougherty, 101, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. She will be mourned by all who have enjoyed her infectious laugh and since of humor. She was born in Quincy, Michigan on October 3, 1916 to the late Arthur and Ida Bowerman. Elsie graduated from Quincy High School and attended International Business College. It was at that time she met Cecil Dougherty, a graduate of Indiana Technical College. Their love blossomed, and they were married on November 5, 1935. They settled in Fort Wayne where they raised their family. Elsie retired from Magnavox in 1981 after 44 years. During those years and after retirement she enjoyed traveling the world and fishing on Marble Lake in Quincy, Michigan. She also enjoyed her weekly bridge sessions with her friends. Elsie is survived by her children, Marilyn Sheriden, Patricia (Ronald) Rennaker, Barbara (Robert) Morel, and James (Sharon) Dougherty; grandchildren, Cynthia Lopez, Nicki Uhls, Julian Franke, Janette Rothgeb, Paul Morel, Matthew Morel, Jason Morel, Gregory Dougherty, Jennifer Ertel, and Angela Swope; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Dougherty, sister, Louise, and brother, Everett. Service is 11 am, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Rd, with calling one hour prior. Calling also Monday at the funeral home from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice, 5910 Homestead Rd, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46814.
