Elaine "Sunny" Helstrom, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, February 9, 2018 at Visiting Nurses Hospice, Fort Wayne, with loving family and caretakers at her side. Sunny was born in Chicago Ill; the daughter of the late William and Sally Kerbs. She attended Northwestern University. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, a past president of the Civic Theatre Guild and the Junior League of Fort Wayne. Sunny loved life! She most loved visiting with her family, friends and pets, as well as the many sports including swimming, water skiing, diving, ice skating, horse back riding and tennis. She also enjoyed playing bridge and performing in the Follies at the Civic Theatre. Sunny traveled the world to experience new cultures. She was an accomplished cook and loved to experiment in the kitchen. She was a dear Mother, Grand Mother and Great Grand Mother. Surviving are her beloved sons Rick (Sunny), of Fort Wayne and Bob (Denise), of San Francisco CA; Grandchildren Terry (Carla) of Louisville, KY. Jennifer (Brad Williams) of Bloomington IN and Kyle Helstrom of San Francisco, CA; Great Grandchildren Powers, Cadence Elaine, Twins Finn and Beatrice and Olivia Grace. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dick Helstrom, brothers Elmer, William and Larry and her Aunt Lydia. Service is 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling from 12:00 pm until the service, Rev. Dr. Kathleen Haller officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to any veterans organization or the ASPCA
