Dorothy Stavreti , 78, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017, in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, IN, Dorothy worked as a Teacher Assistant & School Secretary with Fort Wayne Community Schools for 15 years, retiring in 1994. She was a very active member of St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, a Choir Member for over 50 years, Women's Guild secretary for many years and a past board member. She was a Past Tri Kappa member, Kendallville Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi Member and Red Hat Society Member. She enjoyed sports-high school, college and pro, especially baseball, basketball and was an avid Purdue Boilermaker Fan. She loved animals, especially all the beagles she and her husband Chris owned and loved throughout their marriage. She was thankful for her many family members, friends and groups with which she met for lunch and dinner each month. She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Lee, sister Lenka (Steve) Bercot, God Children-Katarina and Alexi Harmon, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Christie G. Staveti, with whom, she celebrated 51 years of married life, parents Ted and Kalopa Markoff, and sister Florence Sordelet. Funeral service is 11:00 am Wednesday, November 29, 2017, with calling one hour prior, at St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, 3535 Crescent Ave with Fr. Andrew Jarmus, and Deacon Michael Myers, officiating. Calling also, Tuesday, November 28, 2017, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at the church, with a Trisagion Prayer service at 7:00pm. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church or Visiting Nurse Hospice.
