Dorothy J. Whisler, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away April 13, 2018. Born July 3, 1926 in Fort Wayne, IN., she was the daughter of the late Victor and Naomi (Kuhn) Leininger. She taught at Forest Park Elementary School, enjoyed traveling and playing bridge, and dedicated her retirement to volunteering at several organizations. Dorothy will be remembered for her enduring wisdom, honesty and integrity, ageless laugh, and the amazing family she raised. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Wayne C. Whisler; children Diane, David (Ally), and Daniel (Carol); 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; 1 step great-great grandchild; brother Stephen (Donna) Leininger; and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by brother Harold (Bud) Leininger. Service is 10:30 am, Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd with calling one hour prior. Calling also Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. The family would also like to say thank you for the excellent care that they received from Woodview Assisted Living Memory Care and Heartland Home Health and Hospice.
