Donald R. Voglewede , 87, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in Decatur, IN, Donald graduated from Decatur Catholic High School in 1948. He served his country and was a Korean War Army Veteran. Donald worked as a dispatcher for 30 years with various local trucking companies and as a Security Guard at University of St. Francis for 13 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church New Haven. He was an avid Phillies baseball fan and enjoyed gardening, writing poems and listening to swing music. Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Janice K. (McCollum) Voglewede of New Haven, IN; children - Jayne (Brad) Smuts of New Haven, IN; Teresa (Kim) Tracey of New Haven, IN; Thomas (Teri) Voglewede of Fort Wayne, IN; Richard (Shirley) Voglewede of South Bend, IN; Kathryn (Dave) Foellinger of Fishers, IN; 13 grandchildren - Brittany (Seth) Cowley; Jordan Smuts; Jaclyn (Ian) Wuest; Allyson (Chad) Fortman; Connor and Troy Voglewede; Kameron, Alek and Delaney Foellinger; Chad Tracey; Melissa and Michelle Fisette; John (Tiffany) Fisette; 7 great-grandchildren - Nora and Harrison Cowley; Alicia, Allison and Caden Fisette; Josh and Nate Golden; and one great-great-grandson, Hunter Golden; a brother - Gerald (Carolyn) Voglewede of Decatur, IN; sister - Rosie Gase of Decatur, IN. Donald was preceded in death by his parents- Raymond and Mary Voglewede; brothers - John and James Voglewede; sisters - Mary Ann Nartker and Joan Heimann. Mass of Christian Burial is 9:30 am Monday, January 30, 2017, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers Street, New Haven, IN. with calling from 9 -9:30 a.m. with Fr. William Sullivan officiating. Calling also Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 2 - 5 & 7- 9 pm and a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. A private graveside service will be Monday afternoon at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana. Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven or Heartland Hospice.
