Donald Durnell, 64, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on September 6, 1952, the son of the late Gerald and Norma Jean Durnell. He was a devoted husband and loved spending time with his family. Don was a dedicated, hard-worker throughout his life. Don worked for Tokheim Corp. for 33 years until it closed. Don then worked at AVI where he filled the vending machines and made many friends at the Fort Wayne Dana Plant, and also at Marshall's Department Store where he was also loved by customers and co-workers. Don loved sports and was a lifelong Cubs and IU fan. Seeing the Cubs win the World Series was a dream come true. Don also enjoyed listening to his favorite music, and enjoyed seeing live music. Don always had a smile on his face, he loved to laugh and made friends wherever he went. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Linda Durnell; son, Jason (Victoria) Durnell; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Lola Durnell; siblings, Jerry (Candy) Durnell, Linda (Chris) Inniss; step-father, Maurice Zahm; and step-mother, Marcie Dykes. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chester and Lois Dykes. Celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 12:30pm with visitation to be held from 10am to 12:30pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park 4017 Maplecrest Road Ft. Wayne, IN 46815. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
