Denise A. Thornton, 63, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Visiting Nurse in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Denise was the daughter of the late Don and Delores Miller. She graduated from Central Catholic High School and earned multiple degrees including her masters from Indiana University and Ball State University. She was a social worker in the dialysis department at Lutheran Hospital for 18 years prior to her retirement in 2014. Denise loved woodworking and made many beautiful pieces. She and her husband enjoyed bicycling together, hiking, traveling to state parks, and spending time with her friends. She was an awesome wife, sister, and friend and her loving personality will be missed. She was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband, Paul Thornton of Fort Wayne; brother, Dan (Roberto) Miller; sister, Diane (Jan) Miller, and lots of close friends. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 am, Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church with calling one hour prior, Fr. Joseph Gaughan officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd, Tuesday from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. Memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
