David L. Abbott , 81, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. David was a native and lifetime resident of Fort Wayne, IN and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952. He retired as the General Manager of the Flatbed Fleet with North American Van Lines after 44 years of service, He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church; past president of Anthony Wayne Lions Club. David's hobbies included fishing and golfing. He especially enjoyed 60 summers at Lake of the Woods. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Carol Abbott of Fort Wayne, IN daughters, Lynn (Lee) Povlock of Fort Wayne, IN; Karen (Walter) Rorick of Fort Wayne, IN; sisters, Ilene Hoopingardner of Houston, TX; Marjorie Bauer of Fort Wayne, IN; two grandsons Don Rorick of Ft. Wayne and Matthew (Samantha) Povlock of Chicago, IL. David was preceded in death by his parents Charles J. and Eleanor Abbott, brother, Richard Abbott and a grandson Paul Rorick. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am, Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Henry Catholic Church with calling one hour prior, with Fr. Daniel Durkin officiating. Calling also Sunday, February 14, 2016, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
