Charles W. Humphries, 85, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Born in Oak Grove, AL, Charles worked as the Director of Engineering Electronic Warfare with Magnavox for 40 years. While at Magnavox he made significant contributions to progressing the company in areas of threat recognition to the United States and how to destroy the threats. Some systems are still in service today. He continued to play a major part in the design of the warfare system's which could detect the threat and protect our country. He was a member of the Summit City Aerospace Modelers, Association of the Old Crow's, and the North American Whitetail foundation. Charles loved to hunt, he hunted both duck and white-tail deer, with a Pope and Young record book deer, and a former member of Duck's Unlimited. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Humphries of Fort Wayne; sons, William (Starr) Humphries of Fort Wayne, and Tom (Jennifer) Humphries of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandsons Justin, Tyler, and Josh Humphries. Charles was preceded in death by parents, William Charles Humphries and Claudia Hosmer. Service is 10:30 am, Monday, January 23, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Rd with calling one hour prior. Calling also Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
