Catherine Spice, 94, of Statesville, NC, formerly of Fort Wayne, IN died Sunday, January 14, 2018 in Statesville, NC. Born in Fort Wayne, IN on December 22, 1923, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She married Edward Spice on June 23, 1945 in Groton, CT. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2004. She loved gardening, cooking and made hand-written cookbooks of favorite family recipes for each of her children. She loved sewing and her hobbies included making dolls, doll clothes and stuffed animals for the grandchildren. She loved living at Long Beach Lake near Fremont, IN and socializing with her many lake friends. Survivors include sons, Stanley (Jane) of Statesville, NC, Gary (Leslie) of Pinson, AL, Norman (Heather) of Angola, IN; sister, Elaine Sparks of Columbia City, IN and brother, Jerry (Ruth) Park of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Spice and Linda Lee; two sons, Kenneth and Calvin; two sisters, Phyllis Bauer and Mari Lynn Park and four brothers, Billy Wayne (Bud), James, Harold and Larry. Services are 2:00pm, Monday, January 22, 2018 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd, with calling two hours prior beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for Kenneth, Multiple Sclerosis Society for Linda or to the Children's Organ Transplant Association for Brandon. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staffs at Brian Center of Mooresville and Statesville for their love and support.
