Carol Lou Blake, 85, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at The Towne House Retirement Center. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado, Carol Lou was the daughter of the late Rodney and Louise Hughes. She earned her bachelors degree from Colorado State University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. During her career she was a teacher, worked with Fort Wayne National Bank, and owned her own business, Decorating Den. She was a member of the GE Squares, Carousel, Art League, several bridge clubs, and served on the Lake Point Home Owners Association Board. She was a loving wife, mom, and "Grammy" to her family. Blessed with the gift of gab, Carol Lou never knew a stranger and was always ready with a warm smile and kind words. Surviving are her children, Dr. Thomas Blake of Fort Wayne, Nancy (Kevin) Burke of Fleming Island, FL; grandchildren, Julie, Christopher, Matthew, Blake, Kyle, Kelsey, and Rachel; four great-grandchildren with three more on the way; and brother, Jack Hughes of Littleton, CO. Carol Lou was preceded in death by her husband, David Blake, and daughter, Sally Henschen. Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior, Chaplain Douglas Vogel officiating. Calling at the funeral home Friday, February 3, 2017, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
