Carl "Kip" Steeg, 59, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Born in Boston, MA, Carl moved to Fort Wayne at the age of 7 and graduated from Northrop HS in 1975. He completed his studies in accounting at Miami of Ohio University, studied for one year at Polytechnic Institutions of London and received his Master in Business Administration from Stetson University of DeLand FL. He was a Senior Financial Analyst with Eaton Aeroquip in Van Wert, Ohio. Previous employment included the Fort Wayne Wizards, Essex Corp., Tokheim, Instant Copy and Central Soya. He loved being outside; whether maintaining his yard, playing golf, tennis, or basketball. Carl was a longtime basketball fan, cheering on Indiana University or the Pacers. Carl was an avid Indianapolis 500 enthusiast and had attended the race for the past 36 years. On his 50th birthday, he was able to realize a lifelong dream driving an Indy Car around the famed oval, made possible by his loving family. But above all else, Carl was a devoted family man, who adored his children and grandchildren, supporting them in every endeavor imaginable - from coaching youth boys' and girls' basketball teams to screaming encouragement at high school marching band competitions and rallying the troops for his famous homemade backyard 18-hole golf tournaments. Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Deborah Steeg of Fort Wayne, IN; son, Jeff (Sarah) Steeg of Westfield, IN; daughter, Jamie (Cameron) Holt of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Brecken Steeg, Charlotte Steeg, Connor Holt, Caden Holt, and his brother, James H. (Jill) Steeg of Chapel Hill, NC. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl W, Jr. and Janet Steeg. Service is Friday 10:00 am, December 16, 2016 at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd. Fort Wayne, IN with calling one hour prior. Calling also Thursday, December 15, 2016, from 2 - 5 & 7 - 9 pm at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, 2403 E Wallen Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Memorials may be made to the Fort Wayne Center for Learning, IPFW School of Engineering "Carl W. Steeg, Jr. Scholarship for Engineering", or Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org). To sign the online guest book, go to www.mccombandsons.com.
