Benjamin James Bowdon, 93, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Ben was born on April 4, 1924 in Sheridan, Wyoming, the son of the late Dewey and Agnes Bowdon. Ben served as a Radioman Second Class in the Navy during World War II in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea, seeing action in North Africa, Italy and Normandy. Ben graduated from St. Louis University in 1948. Ben married Becky Portell in 1950 in Crystal City, MO and shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2002. After obtaining his Master's Degree, Ben worked as the Vice President of Metals Management at Essex Group INC until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church as well as Fort Wayne Senior Golf League. Surviving are his son; James (Ellen) Bowdon; and 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, David R. Moore; daughter-in-law, Lisa Bowdon. He was preceded in death by his children; Kathleen L. Moore, David B. Bowdon; siblings, Dewey B. Bowdon and Betty J. Giwa; and longtime friend, Gail Milne. A Committal Service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road Fort Wayne, IN on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 11AM with Deacon Jim Kitchens officiating.
