Archie Jackson James, 93, of Kingston Residence of Fort Wayne passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on July 8th 2018. He has joined his beloved wife Imogene, his parents and siblings.
He was born April 9, 1925 in Hazel Green Kentucky to Benjamin F. James and Cora Alice (Russell) James. He was the third of ten children including Andy, Everett, Jesse, Rose Patrick, Sarah Rockwell, Dewey, and Robert all of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his brother Delbert (Carol), and sister Jewell Ann (Lee) Weldy.
He married Imogene Agnes Brooks on April 10, 1952, they were married for sixty-four years when Imogene passed. They had two children Archie F. (J. Susan) James and Betsy A. (Mike) Motter. They have five grandchildren Benjamin and Paul James, James, Elizabeth and Thomas Motter, and two great grandchildren Joshua James and Simon Motter, all of whom survive him.
He volunteered to serve in the Army, however, a serious on base injury precluded his comittment. He retired from the Fort Wayne Community Schools (South Side High School) as building engineer after 33+ years. He also had a lawn maintenance and equipment repair business for many years.
He was a member of the Waynedale Masonic Lodge, Waynedale OES, the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne York Rite, the Mizpah Shrine, the Shriners Dune Patrol, and the High Twelve Club.
Archie loved working in his garage, honoring his Kentucky roots by dancing a two-step Jitter bug, traveling with Imogene, time with family and great friends, and wintering in Florida; but his real joy in life was his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart and doted on endlessly. Archie and Imogene rarely missed an event for one of their grandchildren.
Archie, ever pleasant, was a friend to everyone he met and will be missed sorely by those who loved him.
