Allen L. Schmitz, 81, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Allen was the son of the late Lester Schmitz and Edith Young. Allen graduated from Central High School class of 1954. He was a supervisor draftsman with Tokheim for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Parents without Partners. Allen enjoyed golfing, antique cars, and being Mr. Fix-It. Allen was a jack of all trades and a master of them all. Surviving are his companion of 28 years, Judy Bolinger of Fort Wayne; children, Gregg Schmitz, Marc (Ronda) Schmitz both of Fort Wayne, Lori (Kirt) Kendall of Hastings, MI;12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Allen was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Schmitz; and sister, Elizabeth Henselmeier. Service is 4:00 pm, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with calling from 2:00 pm until the service, Rev. David Mitchell officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association.
