ALICE M. KNEPP, 99, died Friday, June 30, 2017, at Harbour Assisted Living, Fort Wayne.
A Kentucky native, Mrs. Knepp moved to Fort Wayne following World War II, married Harold, her husband of 52 years, and raised two children and a myriad of fruits and vegetables on 16 acres west of Leo. A classically-trained pianist, Mrs. Knepp taught piano and organ, directed choirs and ensembles, and played piano in a variety of churches until well into her 80's.
After her retirement from Brotherhood Mutual in 1983, she began crocheting baby afghans which she donated to friends and her church, Covenant United Methodist.
More than 350 afghans were given away.
Mrs. Knepp was preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents W. Roger and Estelle McInteer, and sister Dorothy Woodring. Surviving are son Rex (Carol) Knepp of Indianapolis; daughter Deb (Steve) Todd, Fort Wayne; grandchildren Carrie (Mike) Harrigan, Fort Wayne, and Nate
(Ashley) Todd, Philadelphia; and two great-grandsons, Eli and Sam Harrigan.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 18 at 1PM at D. O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour before and one hour after the service. Preferred memorials are to Kate's Kart and Heartland Hospice in lieu of flowers.
