Alan J. Cyr, CLU, LUTCF, 68, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in Waterbury, CT, Alan served both in the Marines and the Air National Guard earning a rank of Staff Sergeant. He founded Cyr and Cyr Insurance Services and worked in the financial services industry from 1967 until his passing. He was a member of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (45 years), Million Dollar Round Table (42 years), and the Central Lions Club. He was active in Junior Achievement for 20 years, and an active supporter and leader of both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts. He was an active member of both St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, IN and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bronson, MI. He also served on the Kalamazoo Diocesan Pastoral Council. He enjoyed spending time on Anderson Lake, golfing, traveling, and discussing politics. He also collected stamps and single malt scotch. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed life to the fullest. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Darlene K. Cyr of Fort Wayne, IN; mother, Bertha M. Cyr of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Kimberly (Michael) Colagioia of Las Vegas, NV, Dr. Kristine (Keith Cook) Cyr of Saylorsburg, PA, Kent (Mary) Cyr of Hancock, MI, Karen (Jeff) Kelsheimer of Syracuse, IN, Kathleen (Chad) Whitson of Lovington, NM, Kyle (Tanya) Cyr, Kerrie (Matt) Zollinger, Kelli (Zach) Bunn all of Fort Wayne, IN;17 grandchildren; sister, Candace Capaldo of Ashland, VA; and many extended family members. Alan was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Cyr; grandson, Michael Phillip Colagioia, Jr., and granddaughter, Delaney Suzanne Bunn. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 South Fairfield Avenue, with calling one hour prior, Fr. Andrew Budzinski officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue Monday, February 8, 2016, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN.
