A. Claire Hoffman, 93, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Claire was the daughter of the late John and Angela Murphy. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo, IL. Claire worked in sales during her working career with HIS, and Comcast. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church Arcola, Orchard Ridge Country Club for 30 years, and served as president of the Catholic Orphans Guild. Claire was a bridge enthusiast. She also enjoyed playing euchre, traveling, especially cruises, shopping and dressing for the holidays. Her fun loving personality made everyone smile. Surviving are her children, Jerry (Lori) Hoffman of Fort Wayne, Jay (Deb) Hoffman of Carmel, Joseph Hoffman of Atlanta, GA, Richard Hoffman of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Peggy (Jim) Bottone of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and brother, Joe (Mary) Murphy of Pittsburgh, PA. Claire was preceded in death by her husband Raymond "Artie" Hoffman; siblings John "Jack" Murphy, Marie Steele, Eleanor Myers, Virginia Jones, Edward Murphy, Elizabeth Mahan; daughter-in-laws, Sharon Hoffman and Jill Hoffman. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Arcola with calling one hour prior, Msgr. Tad Balinda officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd, Monday, April 10, 2017, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a rosary service at 4:30 pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Arcola, Christ Child Society, or American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
