Condolence & Memory Journal

LaDean went to my school at Flint, and he also rode on the school bus which my dad drove. I was so sorry to learn of his passing. I didn't know he was ill. Of course, I know Mary Alice even better because she was my English and music teacher. We got together a few times when I would go back to visit my farm home. One of those times she invited me to her home for lunch. It was indeed a sumptuous spread. It was then I learned that she had once dated my first cousin. Back in the 1950s my family and I visited them in Fort Wayne, and LaDean took my husband, Ralph, and me up in his airplane and we flew all over Fort Wayne. I do not have Mary Alice's address anymore but would like to so that I could write to her.

We miss you know, but I am at peace because I know you finally at peace. I think of you when I mow the lawn or see a bird flitting by. You were a great man, and I am so lucky to have had you as my father as long as I did!

LaDean and Mary Alice lived in our Franke Park Neighborhood. Both of them were wonderful neighbors and friends. LaDean always took good care of his huge lawn. The passerbys enjoyed a witch on a broomstick on the tree with a sign saying "Don't Drink and Fly"! Our sympathy to Mary Alice and the family.

While I did not know Mr Dick, I feel connected in that Mrs Dick was my high school choir instructor at Laketon. She felt I could sing! She was inspirational and helped me to enjoy and appreciate music, especially choral.

My thoughts of appreciation and sympathy for this family...

Sorry to hear of LaDean's passing, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family. Jeremiah 29:11, 12 assures us God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, and that if we come and pray to Him, He will listen to us. In the days to come may you find comfort in that hope.
