Tribute & Message From The Family

KEITH WALTERS, 43, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018. He kissed the same woman he swept off her feet at Leo High School (class of 1993), his wife, Amy Walters, one final time before taking his final breath on Earth. Family surrounded Keith to the very end of his valiant fight for 73 days cheering him on to come back to the life he was undeniably amazing at living so well. The love Keith exuded to all he encountered was irrefutable. Son, McCartney Walters, age 10, surely has been blessed with a remarkable illustration of a father who exemplified a heart of a servant. Keith Walters was co-owner of the Pier Place, of Angola, Ind., established in 2004. This successful business combined his love of the water with his incredible ability to work with his hands. There was no project ever too big for this talented human being. He had a passion for life and a genuine love for others and was always willing to drop what he was doing to help someone in need. Surviving are his wife, Amy Walters of Fort Wayne; son, McCartney Walters; father, Dan (Rosalyn) Walters of Fort Wayne; mother, Sandy (Tom) Maurer of Fishers, Ind.; brother, Robert (Josh Hanson) Walters of Fort Wayne; sister, Valerie (Michelle) Walters of Indianapolis, Ind.; parents-in-law, Bruce and Linda Menshy of Fort Wayne; brother-in-law, Brian Menshy of Fort Wayne; and nephew, Bennett Walters. Celebration of Life is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Rd., with calling two hours prior beginning at noon. Memorials may be made to the McCartney Walters Education Fund or to St. Joseph United Methodist Church. To sign the online guestbook visit www.mccombandsons.com

So very sorry to hear of Keith's passing. We have been customers of Pier Place for years and dealing with Keith was always a pleasure. Just recently we also became neighbors on Lone Tree Point and was looking forward to getting to know him better. Our sincere condolences to all who knew this great guy.

Keith was a great guy and always had a smile on his face. He was always willing to help you out. I went to school with Keith at Leo, however did not stay in touch until we connected at his business in Angola. He was always full of life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, son, family, and friends during this difficult time.

I am honored and blessed to have known Keith and had the privilege to work so closely with him at the Pier Place for so many years before I retired in 2012. Both owners, Keith and Brook, always made the staff feel we were all on equal playing ground on and off the job, like a team or even family. Some of my fondest memories are of our company picnics on the lake, fun golf outings and even go-kart riding one year.

Keith will always be a part of me and with a heavy heart I want to express my sorrow to his wife Amy, his pride and joy McCartney and all his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by many. Until I see you again my friend Keith, rest in peace.

Dear McCartney, I knew your father when he was your age. I was one of his teachers at Leo Elementary. He was a wonderful kid, just like I know you must be. I so enjoyed teaching him! I will be praying for you as you will miss him so much. With your family to support you, you will grow up and be an honor to the memory of your incredible loving dad. God bless you, McCartney! Love and prayers for your beautiful mom, too! Dr. Jeanne Zehr

He must not be hurting anymore now that he is in heaven because he is happy and smiling. This was his response when he saw the picture on the television obituaries.

Randy Green and Annette Bowen are my nephew and niece. They have kept me up to date on Keith during the time he was in the hospital. Our extended family prayed for Keith and his family daily. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and there are no words to express how much our hearts go out to you. You will remain in our prayers and may God's grace cover and hold you beneath his sheltering wings in the days ahead. Carol

I do not know you, but was greatly touched by the obituary writeup. Please accept my condolences and my prayers for you at this time. I lost my dear husband of 53 years, on Sept 30, totally unexpected and suddenly. I know your pain and am so sorry that you're experiencing this grief at your young age. Personally, I'm struggling, and I know it won't be easy for you either, so am reaching out and offering my prayers. May you feel God's presence in the days, weeks, and years to come.

My heart breaks for Keith's family. Every interaction I had with Keith showed what a genuinely nice person he was. It was obvious how much he loved his family and was dedicated to his business. May the love of our Lord comfort his family at this difficult time.

Dan and family, May God be with you as your work through this most difficult moment in your life. In 2013 we lost or then 33 year old son Eric in an accidental drowning. I still remember the nice sympathy card you sent and how much that meant. My heart reaches out with great sorrow to all of you.
