One of my favorite memories of Anne is when I worked at Lincoln Bank in Fort Wayne when I was in my early 20's. Because she was my dear friend Sue's mom, she was Mrs. Effinger to me. Since her work often required her to be at the bank, she asked that I start calling her Anne. It was easier said than done, but I tried. One day during one of our many fun lunch dates, I told her I was proud of myself for not calling her Mrs. Effinger. She laughed and said, Yes, I've noticed that now you don't call me anything. I went from calling her Mrs. Effinger to Mrs. Anne to Anne. I greatly admired her and will miss my friend Anne very much.
