Mike,Tim,and Patty,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your Father was my Father's stock broker and I met him as a youngester at Merrill with my dad and your dad he had this big cigar looking at the Dow news tape..Years later I became a stockbroker and I had many meetings mostly smoking a cigar talking about stocks etc.
He was smart, direct , loved this great country and loved life! He was generous and our community is better because of him..I enjoyed being in his presence ,learned from him and admired his achievements.
God bless him, your family and I know he is in a better place with God...
My prayers are with you during this time....

Jim shields was one of the most remarkable men I have ever met. He lived life to the fullest and left behind an astounding rags to riches story that culminated in a strong family, many works of Philanthropy. His business successes led to prosperity for his employees and investors. I was blessed to know him.

Uncle Jim. Was my mom's big brother, my godfather, the family patriarch, a fellow Buffalonian, an extremely successful businessman, a helping hand in times of need, a stout supporter of the Catholic Church and numerous charities. But most of all to me he was someone I enjoyed on many occasions a glass of Jameson with, (he preferred Crown Royal, sorry) as we looked over that little slice of heaven called Thunder Beach and reminisced about life. God Bless you Uncle Jim.

I always knew Uncle Jim was a very successful man. I wish I would have had more times and memories with Uncle Jim. One memory my Dad Davey Joe told me was shortly after I was born Uncle Jim came to Florida and met me. He so enjoyed me he told my Dad I am going back to Indiana and make a little girl. And indeed he did. Many years later when I was 19 and working for Broward County Courthouse Finamce Department he took me to lunch at a French restaurant on east Las Olas Blvd. he introduced me to escargots. I really enjoyed them. I have had them a few other times in my life and always remembered the fond memory with my Uncle Jim.
